The colourful design is created using simple embroidery stitches and is adorned with beads and sequins. I love seeing handmade souvenirs from the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in antique shops, it makes me think of the time and effort people would have taken to mark this important event. In 1953 my great granddad painted large portraits of the Queen and Prince Phillip to hang in their front windows during the celebratory street party. These have been sadly lost but I love the idea of your pincushion becoming a family heirloom and part of social history in years to come.
I also think this crown has strong Alice in Wonderland vibes, so if the monarchy isn’t your thing then with a few tweaks you can still have a perfect pincushion.
This 18 page Digital Download has all the instructions and templates you need to make your own heirloom pincushion. There are 7 pages of photographic step by step instructions, 100% scale templates and a stitch guide. I like to think they are very detailed and easy to follow. I also hold live video tutorials on my Instagram every Friday evening.
The templates come set up for both UK A4 and US Letter printers and there is also a set of SGV file included for cutting machines.
