About the Event
This day long creative embroidery workshop wil give you the opportunity opportunity to learn, experiment and have a good old creative play. At the end of the day you will have created a fabric stitch book for recording your stitching experiments and explored many different ways to expand and enhance your embroidery practice.
My studio is packed to the rafters with everything a crafter could want; beads, sequins, buttons, fabrics galore, needles, ribbons, transfers, iron on vinyl, a rainbow of threads and yarns, scissors, heat presses and stencils, all available for you to use. If the weather is nice we can stitch in the sunshine in my secluded garden.
The workshops are suitable for adventurous beginners and more experienced stitchers, you will be able to work at your own pace and I will always be on hand to help.
In the morning we will focus on making a handbound stitch 'sketchbook'. We will use a selection of fabrics as pages for you to experiment on and explore different ways of working with embroidery and mark making.
After lunch there will be time to learn some of my favourite stitches and how to embellish your work with beads, sequins and other 3D items. You will be able to play with with vintage embroidery patterns and other transfer techniques. Depending on your embroidery experience and what you want to acheive at the workshop there will be the opportunity to using Iron On Vinyl and a heat press. I will show you how to create abstract patterns and enhance them with stitches and decoration, I will also show you how to add texture by using different yarns and threads.
At the end of the day you will come away with a brain buzzing with ideas and a bag of goodies to keep you stitching!
